The whole world at her feet,
She chose to look to you.
Her glistening brown eyes,
Waited for years, unblinking.
Every sight of you at her horizon
Was a moment she dared
To hope for the impossible
The world adored her, doted on her,
You chose to shatter her soul.
So now when she looks at the glass,
Its shards pierce and pin her to the dark.
She remembers each day, each night,
But you’ve moved on to better times.
There were many, so many,
Waiting to make her whole.
But she chose to stay incomplete,
For she knew she was still not free.
Days slipped by, years flew,
I watched her scars fade,
And her lips quiver, but for a smile.
And then You.
You came crawling back,
For the life you left her for,
Had turned its back on you.
Oh how you came crawling back,
Seeking her embrace,
And she, the innocent heart,
Chose to look you in the face.
She didn’t strike or aim,
But listened as you begged and cried.
And I watched as her heart shuddered,
As she let you in again.
I seethed, I saw red,
But all she saw was the dreams that all along, she’d had.
I waited, for I knew you.
Each smile she flung on, made me tremble,
I feared the storm that lay waiting.
Days slipped by, bare months flew.
And you, you left her flailing again.
To the clifftop you took her by her hand,
And when she looked to you,
You stared at the ground, and let go.
As she fell, she opened her mouth to scream.
But no words, no voice,
And how could she, when even then,
Her innocent heart could not see.
See you for the nothing that you are
See you for the dark that you are.
I picked her off the rocks,
And I’ll sew her back to life.
For she’s mine to protect,
And you’re mine to destroy.
Know that every step you take,
Is that which takes you closer to the fate that awaits.
Keep that jar of hearts close by,
Because when I break you,
I’ll wash your body with the blood they bled.
This my word,
that before your demise,
I’ll make you look up to her, and see her smile.
She’ll be alive, and breathing,
And loved by true love.
You’ll be writhing, and screaming,
But don’t worry,
I’ll be by your side, till the very end.
I’ll stay by your side, till I know
You can hurt no more.
And then I can smile,
Because I know,
She’ll be alright.
She chose to look to you.
Her glistening brown eyes,
Waited for years, unblinking.
Every sight of you at her horizon
Was a moment she dared
To hope for the impossible
